Description:
Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary is situated in one of the many kloofs (gorges) of the Magaliesberg mountain range and is one of only 8 free release primate sanctuaries globally.
Primates, such as our squirrel, spider and capuchin monkeys, are given a new lease on life at Bush Babies. Previously raised as household pets, or bred for the pet trade, their monkeys are introduced to a wild world laden with waterfalls, lush vegetation, natural mountain springs and the chance to reside in as natural and environment as possible. Bush Babies goal is to give theses primates the opportunity to live as they would in the wild. Bush Babies recognize the importance of community education. Not only are their tours highly informative, but they strive to create awareness toward the benefit of releasing primates into sanctuaries such as theirs.
During the tour you will be guided through the sanctuary on elevated wooden walkways leisurely winding through the indigenous forests. The experience is described as a non-interactive game-viewing opportunity to see once-captured primates in a wild environment.
Besides the monkeys you'll also get to enjoy the beauty of the location. You'll get a breathtaking view over the greater Brits from the swing bridges and walk alongside the spring water oozing from the kloof's walls.
Bush Babies is also home to Baraka Events and Function Venue which is situated within the actual sanctuary.
